Schneider Electric’s innovation summit in Abu Dhabi marks a new phase of regional energy transformation

Schneider Electric will stage the second Innovation Summit for the Middle East and Africa in Abu Dhabi on April 28–29, 2026, positioning the event as a focal point for policymakers, utilities, data centre operators and industrial energy managers wrestling with surging electricity demand and the rapid rollout of AI and digital infrastructure.

According to the company, the Summit will showcase how tighter integration of electrification, automation and digital services can be deployed across buildings, data centres, industry and power systems to improve operational resilience and reduce energy intensity. The programme is planned to combine executive forums, product demonstrations and an immersive Innovation Hub intended to translate technology concepts into deployable solutions for grid modernisation, energy efficiency and digital infrastructure.

The timing reflects what industry observers describe as an inflection for the region. Government-led giga-projects, national decarbonisation targets and expanding cloud and AI workloads are converging on power systems already under strain. Industry data shows global electricity demand is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of about 3.6% between 2026 and 2030, according to the International Energy Agency, while projections tied to AI growth anticipate a steep rise in data centre power consumption. According to capacity-market research cited by the company, global AI workloads could drive a 160% surge in data centre power demand in the coming years.

The Abu Dhabi forum follows a series of regional engagements by the firm that emphasise localisation and in‑market delivery. According to Schneider Electric’s own reporting, the group staged a large Innovation Summit in Riyadh in 2025 that drew more than 2,000 delegates and featured a 2,500m² Innovation Hub with live demonstrations and more than 50 sessions on AI, electrification and digital transformation. The company also announced a set of locally manufactured products under a “Made in Saudi” initiative and plans to expand production capacity at a new facility in King Salman Energy Park to support Saudi Vision 2030 objectives, according to the firm’s press material.

Schneider Electric’s investments in regional innovation infrastructure extend into Africa. The company opened its first continental Innovation Hub in mid‑2025, hosted within a new headquarters designed to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and staffed to support demonstrations tailored to utilities, integrators and customers, industry reporting shows.

The Abu Dhabi Summit agenda, as described by the organiser, will include a CEO Forum run with Forbes Middle East to convene C‑suite leaders, thought‑leadership keynotes with strategic partners including Bain & Company, and customer‑facing Innovation Hub experiences designed to demonstrate integrated hardware and software solutions. The company also intends to present recognitions across growth, efficiency, innovation and sustainability categories to partner organisations.

Schneider Electric cites examples such as grid software rollouts that have reduced outage recovery from hours to minutes in certain deployments. Second, the emphasis on local manufacturing and innovation hubs underlines a move to shorten supply chains and embed skills locally, a trend that supports faster project execution and aligns with national economic strategies across the Gulf and parts of Africa.

The Summit will thus be watched by energy planners, data centre operators and industrial managers for concrete case studies and procurement signals that could shape capital investment and retrofit programmes across the region’s fast‑growing electricity landscape.
